Name your tank and enter your water parameters — KH, tank volume, filter turnover, and your start pH measured the morning after CO₂ has been off all night.

Generate your reading log, set your CO₂-on time, and mark which slot is your lights-on target. AquaCalc calculates your target pH from your KH and target CO₂ ppm.

The gold-standard method for tanks with stable, uninfluenced water chemistry. Uses your KH, water temperature and pH to calculate dissolved CO₂ precisely — no guesswork.

Aquasoil & buffering media
pH drop method
When aquasoil or other buffering substrates alter your water's KH, the standard formula breaks down. The pH drop method uses your overnight pH as the true degassed baseline instead.
  • CO₂ estimated as 3 × 10^(overnight pH − current pH)
  • Overnight pH = natural degassed baseline for buffered tanks
  • Target = overnight pH minus your desired drop
  • Degassed sample field hidden — it's not meaningful here
